The Library would like to remind all students and staff to return library materials that are due back shortly. This applies especially to students who are graduating this summer.

 

If you need to renew library materials out of term:

 

LOG IN:            www.ul.ie/library (Choose library catalogue and 'my account' to renew items, check account details or pay fines online)

 

CALL IN:          Use self-service machines in library foyer OR

            In person to the information desk on the ground floor

Remember: If you are studying or doing research and intend traveling over the summer period, please get in contact with us if you would like to arrange a visit to another university or special library. We can organize a letter of introduction to the visiting library. In particular, faculty and some categories of postgraduate students can avail of two cooperative academic library schemes operating throughout Ireland and UK:

We are open nearly all weekends in June too. The opening hours for July & Aug are mainly 09:00 – 17:00hrs (M-F).

RefWorks is a web based bibliographic manager that is available across the UL network and off-campus. It can be used to create a bibliography of references and to format these for use in reports, papers and theses. To use RefWorks you must first set up your account on campus. Go to www.refworks.com/refworks and click on "sign up for an individual account". Create a username and password. You will then be able to teach yourself how to use RefWorks using the tutorials provided. Control of Horses
Bye Laws introduced under the control of Horses Act 1996 prohibit the keeping of a horse without a current licence issued by Limerick County Council. Exemptions to the above include:
Owners with in excess of 5 acres of agricultural land, owned or leased, on which the horse is kept.
Owners whose animal is registered with a riding club approved by Limerick County Council.
Owners of thoroughbred horses.
Applications for a Horse Licence must be made using the appropriate Application Form and accompanied by the prescribed fee of €31.74. A licence will not be granted unless facilities for the proper care and maintenance of the horse are available. The horses must be identifiable by means of an approved microchip implanted in its neck. Limerick County Council seized and detained 32 stray horses in 2004(20% reduction on 2003). Horses are held at a private Pound in Cork for a minimum of 5 days pending reclamation by their owners.Application Form available: Application for a Horse Licence (PDF Format)
