JSTOR Ireland collection available via databases

JSTOR Ireland collection available via UL databases

The Ireland Collection is an interdisciplinary resource of materials from and about Ireland. At its expected completion in 2009, it will contain a minimum of 2,500 manuscripts, 200 monographs, and 75 ceased and currently publishing journals with moving walls between 1 and 5 years. Complementing JSTOR's existing collections, the Ireland Collection adds resources across the arts, humanities, and sciences in disciplines such as music, art, history, literature, archaeology, mathematics, and biology. Materials span from the 1780s to the present. With funding from the JISC Digitisation Programme, the Ireland Collection was created in collaboration with Queen's University Belfast.

The best database for this search seems to be Academic Search Premier. Go to UL Library Homepage http://www2.ul.ie/web/WWW/Services/Library then click on A-Z, click on Access Electronic Resources off campus and next click on https://login.proxy.lib.ul.ie - log in . Then go to databases - Academic Search Premier. (Nothing in SportDISCUS for this assignment but, it can be good in other contexts).

Study and succeed - via web, training on campus and Pod Cast.

Centre for Teaching and Learning

Students, do you need help with study skills?

If you are able to come on campus for these sessions
... the workshops take place in the Millstream Courtyard Building in Room MC2-005
every Monday and Tuesday at 1.00pm
and Wednesdays from 5pm to 6pm in MC2-005

... until week 8 (Monday 27th, Tuesday 28th, Wednesday 29th October)

... email Vicky.kelly@ul.ie if you need more info or if you are travelling a long distance to confirm sessions are on.
STUDY SKILLS WORKSHOPS

Students who are having difficulty studying can overcome some significant challenges by attending a workshop. Until Week 8 these workshops are focused on study skills generally, from Week 9 onwards the focus will be on exam preparation. Students who are interested in the benefits of these sessions should aim to attend one before and one after Week 8.

What other UL students have said about the workshops:

"Learning about how to study - it has never been explained to me like that before"

"You have given me methods of studying, I didn't think there was so much you could do to help yourself!"

"You hear different views and concerns and it gives you confidence to know you are not the only one with these concerns"

"I feel relaxed about study methods and about how to organise my time for study"

" I know how to organise my study time to get the best results and I feel more confident talking to other people"

"It has helped me to relax and realise that most people have the same concerns and worries"

"We've been shown how to set a study timetable and for how long each study period should be, also how to concentrate which is a big problem for me"

The workshops take place in the Millstream Courtyard Building in Room MC2-005 every Monday and Tuesday at 1.00pm. If you need any further information please contact Vicky at the Centre for Teaching and Learning, MC1-014, Ext 4652 or email Vicky.kelly@ul.ie (from email sent Thursday 2nd October 2008).
